Lots of Little Things...

First of all I take great pride in congratulating Valdosta, GA on becoming "Titletown, USA". ESPN's summer-long contest came to an end on Monday evening, when it was announced that out of the hundreds and hundreds of candidates, Valdosta walked away with the title with roughly 29% of the finalists' vote.
I guess those 28 state football championships, and 7 national football championships paid off. :-)
On to more distressing news...Republican Senator Ted Stevens from Alaska has managed to land himself in some very hot water. To sum it all up, he's been accused of accepting gifts from lobbyists...a very big "no-no". Most know Stevens as the guy who wanted to build the "bridge to nowhere" a couple of years ago. He's also currently the longest sitting Republican Senator in D.C. and part of the reason the Republican party has become blind, deaf, and dumb over the last few years. He's a pork barrel spending King and now he's given the Liberals and the Media a prime opportunity to shift America's focus from increased energy production to "all Republicans are evil". Thanks Ted...thanks a lot.
When Conservatives reclaim the Republican party and get rid of clowns like this, we won't have to worry about Democratic majorities anymore.
Hey a guy can dream can't he?
As I was driving into work this morning, the radio landed on a popular FM morning talk show. This show usually concentrates on culture (pop and others) and the social aspect of the city. It's basically the "E!" network on the radio. Today they happened to be talking about Ludacris' new song where he manages to endorse Barack Obama while simultaneously throwing Hillary Clinton, George Bush, and John McCain under the bus. The theme of the conversation was centered around "is this good or bad"? Needless to say I was very troubled. The song didn't bother me in the least. If Ludacris wants to make a song trashing everyone white and not Obama, then more power to him. Whatever makes him sleep better. My problem arose after listening to several callers (a few were white...most were black) reiterate 99% of what all the Obama backers in the country have been saying since Day 1:
"We could care less what the man says or what his ideology is. He is black and cool, so therefore I'm going to support him."
After listening to Luda's song and the callers this morning AND the Liberals for months now, it is fairly easy to conclude that many of Barack Obama's disciples are basing their vote solely on the color of his skin. This is maddening to me on so many levels. I know there are some in this country that actually support and believe in liberal/socialist ideology just like Obama. They are in the minority, however, when it comes to the voters. Remember "white guilt"? For the first time in the history of our nation, there is a very good chance that a black man will be elected President of the United States. That fact alone is what's driving way too many people. They don't see ideas. They don't see policies. All they see is a black man, and by God they are going to vote for him because its only fair and its about time.
I would absolutely love to ask these people if thier passion would be as high if Colin Powell or Condeleeza Rice were in the race. Now THAT would be good radio.
